MLEA seeks a structural engineer with 7-10 years of experience in the process plant or power industries. A minimum of a BS degree in civil or structural engineering is required. PE license and strong CAD/CAE skills for both concrete and steel design is required (AutoCAD, GT-STRUDL, STAAD and/or RISA).
The structural engineer performs a variety of calculations and analyses; prepares specifications; identifies problems and recommends solutions; provides technical guidance; prepares project plans; prepares, reviews or approves construction drawings and documents; pays attention to details to assure well thought-out, correct, accurate, and professional products are delivered; and conforms to project schedules to the maximum extent practical. The structural engineer should be capable of working independently with only a minimum of input and very little supervision and should be capable of supervising other engineers, designers and draftsmen.
The structural engineering position requires knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards, analytical knowledge and ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. It requires thorough understanding of higher mathematical concepts, including use of a variety of engineering computer software, spread sheets, and related analytical tools. Computer skills (word processor, spreadsheet, databases) should be at the intermediate to high literacy level. The structural engineer must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Windows 10, and the Internet. The structural engineer must have an excellent command of the English language in reading, writing, spelling, and oral communication.

Physical demands also include periodic travel on company business, either on day trips or overnight travel. Periodic trips may also involve cross-country travel or overseas travel, and can last from one to two weeks.
